November is American Diabetes Month

The CardioMetabolic Health Alliance (CMHA) is pleased to support American Diabetes Month to promote diabetes prevention and control.  The CMHA is dedicated to improving cardiometabolic risk factor control in diverse populations. Risk factors include a cluster of interrelated clinical findings that together can progress to diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  Through the three founding partners, the CMHA offers valuable tools and information to combat diabetes.

The Blood Sugar Basics program was developed by the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) to provide useful information for people living with diabetes about blood sugar including helpful tips on how to control blood sugar levels to better manage their disease.

The Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Self-Assessment Program from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) helps clinicians expand their knowledge of the connection between diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  This includes providing information about the cardiovascular effects of various therapeutic options and management strategies for diabetes and the breadth of therapeutic options with evidence-based cardiovascular benefits.

The U.S. Diabetes Index, powered by the National Minority Quality Forum (www.nmqf.org) database, provides users with the capacity to define the impact of diabetes at the zip code level.  Healthcare providers, patient and public health advocates, and clinical researchers now have an internet-based resource to map, quantify, rank, and forecast diabetes prevalence, costs, and outcomes; further segmented by age, gender, and race/ethnicity for any state, MSA, legislative district, and zip code.
